HTML <font>
Tag
The <font>
tag in HTML is used to specify the font style, size, color, and face of the text. This tag has been deprecated in HTML5 and should not be used in modern web development. Instead, CSS should be used to style text on a webpage.
However, for the purpose of this tutorial, we will explain how the <font>
tag works and its main attributes:
Attribute | Description |
---|---|
color | Specifies the color of the text |
face | Specifies the font face to be used |
size | Specifies the size of the text |
Here is an example of how to use the <font>
tag:
<font color="red" face="Arial" size="4">This is a red Arial font with size 4.</font>
When rendered in a browser, the text will appear as follows:
This is a red Arial font with size 4.
As the tag font is deprecated the css will take preference on the styling
As mentioned earlier, it is recommended to use CSS for styling text in modern web development. Here is an example of how the above code can be achieved using CSS:
<style>
.styled-text {
color: red;
font-family: Arial;
font-size: 24px;
}
</style>
<p class="styled-text">This is a red Arial font with size 24px.</p>
With CSS, the same styling can be applied without the use of the deprecated <font>
tag.
